Inspired by his pastry shop work experience in Australia, owner Stanley Chen began selling German soft pretzels (bretzels) from a food cart near Park Lane by CMP mall during Christmas 2014. With many loyal customers, he decided in 2021 to open this warm, cozy, festive-feeling shop, a two-story space accommodating around 40 guests.

Showcasing traditional German flavors, the highly recommended Bavarian Harvest (NT$328) platter includes a traditional bretzel served with house-made Obatzda cheese spread, German pork knuckle and sausages, sauerkraut and mashed potatoes, plus a balsamic vinaigrette salad, featuring crispy puffed rice handmade by Stanley's mom for an added fragrance and crunch. The pork knuckle boasts crispy skin and tender juicy meat, pairing wonderfully with sauerkraut and mustard. Softer, chewy American-style soft pretzels are also available. Popular flavors include freshly baked creme brulee-like Crispy Sugar (NT$50), Cinnamon Sugar (NT$50) and Heavy Cheese (NT$55). Overall, The Bretzel is perfect for brunch or a relaxing afternoon with a pretzel and a cup of coffee or hot tea.
