One of the biggest global names in music retailing has finally arrived in Taichung, with a large, 150-ping store on the 10th floor of Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store. Living up to its slogan, “No Music, No Life”, Tower a excellent selection of CDs across the musical spectrum, including rock, pop, “smooth listening”, jazz, club/lounge/dance, and classical. Many customers, tired of wading through hundreds of poorly-displayed CDs, will no doubt appreciate Tower’s nicely organized music sections. Although average albums range in the NT$300 to NT$400-plus range, bargain selections go for as low as NT$199. In addition to music, Tower Records also has a good selection of DVD movies and other related wares. Until November 3, the store will feature an “In Passion” exhibition of select foreign and local rock groups from the 80’s to the present.–By Douglas Habecker
