This will be the 14th year that Taichung City Government has organized the Top 10 Taichung Gifts Festival and this year’s award-winning shopping categories cover everything from traditional cakes, drinks and innovative pastries to compact daily accessories, all promoting the city’s creative diversity and fusion of old and new gift-giving cultures. All items are being carefully chosen for quality, adherence to food and product safety, and usefulness and this event is a fresh invitation to all Taiwanese to visit Taichung for a productive sightseeing and shopping experience.
Supporting charity with thoughtful gift purchases
“Merry Young Happy Socks”, introduced by the Maria Social Welfare Foundation, earned a variety of awards, including a first prize among the Top 10 gifts, Best On-Site Popularity Award, and the Best Nominated Newcomer. The design of these “happy socks” features popular tourist attractions like the Taichung Railway Station, Green Waterway, Central Bookstore, Miyahara ice cream and pastry store, and Taiwan Sun Cake Museum, all portrayed through the lively imaginations of the mentally-challenged young creators.
The Amazing Grace Deaf Bakery won a Top 10 Gifts first prize and the Best Nominated Newcomer award. The devoted hearing-impaired bakers, working in the absence of sound, experienced the joy of realizing their dreams as they created tasty pastries. Come to Taichung to support the gift festival launched by various social welfare organizations. Everyone is welcome to show their affection by giving gifts and contributing to charities.
