Phoenix Hotel Taichung, affiliated with Evergreen Resort Hotel Jiaoxi, offers this large second-floor brunch buffet restaurant (open 7 a.m.-1 p.m.) under the management of experienced chef Wu Jian-ping. With stylish industrial-style decor and black and gray tones, the spacious, comfortable interior accommodates about 500 in a well-organized L-shaped seating area. This restaurant provides one of the most relaxing, best-value hotel dining experiences in Taichung with a food selection divided into various themes, including a changing variety of distinctive Southeast Asian cuisine. A previous Vietnamese selection has been replaced by Malaysian-style dishes with Southeast Asian spices and ingredients such as laksa, various meats, fried pork ribs and pandan leaves.
Among other dining options are Italian rice pudding with meat sauce, crispy German pork knuckles, Korean fried chicken and rice cakes, Japanese sushi, American roast turkey, various breads, Taiwanese porridge and soy milk. Diners can also cook pho and other noodles on their own and add sliced beef, shallots, chili oil, green vegetables and seasonings to some hot soup for a bowl of delicious DIY beef noodle soup. In addition, there are various salads, cheeses, smoked salmon, cold cuts and fresh fruit in the chilled section. A Starbucks-style machine is provided to grind and prepare fresh coffee and there are various tea drinks, Haagen-Dazs ice cream and Italian gelato to complete this multinational culinary experience. With diners of all ages able to select their favorite dining choices, from fried chicken and french fries to porridge, dim sum and Korean pancakes, it’s near impossible to leave feeling anything less than fully satisfied.
